建議使用CPU鏡頭 (IX尼克爾CPU鏡頭除外) 與D5000一同使用
使用自動對焦， AF-S尼克爾鏡頭，或AF-I 尼克爾鏡頭時，必需與內建自動對焦馬達一併使用。
以下鏡頭可與D5000一同使用：

重點測光測量所選之對焦區域.
2 - 當移動或傾斜鏡頭，或所使用之光圈並非最大光圈值時，相機之曝光測光及閃光操控系統便不能正常運作。.
3 - 電子測距器不能於移動或傾斜時使用.

6 - 使用 AF 80-200mm f/2.8S， AF 35-70mm f/2.8S， 新型號 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5S， 或 AF 28-85mm f/3.5-4.5S鏡頭時， 當變焦範圍拉至最近而對影像作最近距離對焦， 觀景器內的磨砂對焦屏有可能不可以清晣的顯示己對焦的影像。如遇此情況， 請以觀景器上的影像作指引，作手動對焦

其他品牌
TAMRON需為N2系列，其餘不能使用自動對焦，要使用手動對焦代替。
如A16 Di ll N2 、SP17-50(26-78)、A17 Di N2、70-300(112-480)、A18 Di ll N2、18-250(28-389)、272E Di N2、SP90 Di
SIGMA 需有HSM才可全功能，其餘鏡頭可使用曝光模式及測光選項，但是不能使用自動對焦，要使用手動對焦代替
Compatible Non-CPU lenses
Non-CPU lenses may only be used when the camera is in mode M. Selecting another mode disables the shutter release. Aperture must be adjusted manually via the lens aperture ring and the camera metering system, i-TTL flash control, and other features requiring a CPU lens can not be used.
