自1981年AT-X系列鏡頭誕生後，Tokina開始了在鏡頭領域的輝煌歷程，在底片機時代曾因為出眾的光學性能和舒適的手感而有著很好的口碑，與適馬、騰龍並稱單眼鏡頭三大副廠。但是在數位單眼相機時代來臨之初，由於產品更新速度不夠，營銷渠道不力等眾多原因，Tokina這個品牌似乎銷聲匿跡了。直到2004年底AT-X PRO SD 12-24 F4（IF） DX鏡頭的發佈，Tokina鏡頭的數位時代才算重新開始。
